Three Weeks, Three Kids

CAREFREE DOES NOT MEAN WORRY FREE!

Film Guide

In this tale of two sisters, when free-spirited Jennifer babysits while devoted mom Mandy vacations, both women discover what had been missing from their lives.

When her parents call at the last minute to say they can’t babysit due to an unexpected health issue, Mandy and Brian’s long-delayed honeymoon may be postponed yet again.   Knowing a romantic getaway is just what her uptight sister desperately needs; Jennifer volunteers to watch the kids.  Knowing Jennifer can’t handle the responsibility, Mandy protests.  But faced with postponing their trip, Brian convinces her to go.

These two women are about to discover how right their sisters were.  Cool Aunt Jennifer is in way over her head, cooking, cleaning, and driving kids all over town, while helicopter mom Mandy is miserable on vacation, helpless without kids to hover over.

As time go by, Jennifer becomes the grownup who helps the children handle bullies, deal with mean girls, and even rein in a crush.  As she grows closer to her nephew and nieces, she grows apart from her boyfriend, who fell for the scooter-driving party girl, not a minivan-driving suburbanite.  But taking on serious responsibilities for the first time, we see Jennifer starting to take herself more seriously.

In Europe, Mandy realizes that her focus on the kids is threatening her marriage.   Finally letting go, she rediscovers life beyond motherhood, rekindles her romance and enjoys the whirlwind honeymoon they’ve been waiting for.

Three weeks later, the family is reunited.  A rejuvenated Mandy is determined to relax and get out more.  Jennifer is ready to step up and embrace adulthood – unafraid now of commitment in her design career and her personal life.  Jennifer and Mandy are completely caught off guard when their parents arrive and reveal they made up the illness and that their cancellation was just a calculated ploy to give their daughters this much-needed perspective.
